VICE PRESIDENT KOUNG UNVEILS LIBERIA’S CULTURAL HERITAGE

Monrovia: Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has highlighted the significance of tourism and culture in Liberia, emphasizing their potential to generate revenue and create job opportunities. Speaking at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism, Vice President Koung unveiled over 200 cultural artifacts showcasing Liberia’s rich cultural heritage.

The vice president reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing tourism and culture as key components of national development. He called for increased investment in infrastructure, hospitality services, and cultural preservation to promote Liberia as a top tourist destination in Africa. “We must promote our own culture; we have to showcase Liberia’s cultural heritage to the world,” he stated. He also pointed out the need to renovate historical sites that were once popular tourism attractions.

Vice President Koung further stressed the importance of policies that support the protection and promotion of Liberia’s 16 indigenous tribes and their cultural expressions. “Liberia once had a thriving National Cultural Center, a well-stocked National Museum, and a vibrant Tubman Center for Arts and Culture in Robertsport. These places should be considered for restoration,” he added.

VP Kpan Koung underscored the important of tourism and culture in Liberia as well as fostering the potential to drive revenue for Job opportunities. He emphasized the Government’s commitment to prioritizing tourism and Cultural as a means of national development that will increase investment, infrastructure, hospitality services and cultural preservation to promote Liberia as a tourism destination in Africa and across the world. “We must promote our own Culture and must showcase Liberia’s cultural heritage to the world” the VP emphasized.

He highlighted historical centers renovated, stating that those places were used for tourism in the past. VP Koung also stressed the need for policies that support the protection and promotion of Liberia’s 16 indigenous tribes and their Cultural expression.

The Liberian Vice President noted that the country has flourishing National Cultural Center,

well-fixed National Museum and a vibrant Tubman enter for Arts and Culture in Robertsport “those places should be considered”. He applauded Minister Piah tireless efforts and pivotal role he is playing in promoting tourism and culture at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism.
