LDEA Confiscates Cocaine Worth Over $ 3 Billion Liberian Dollars At RIA

Monrovia: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has Confiscated a large quantity of drugs at the Roberts International Airport via Brussels Airlines.
The drug has an estimated street value of over $19 million United States Dollars and approximately $ 3 billion Liberian Dollars. “Today, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency announces a breakthrough in Liberia’s fight against transnational drug trafficking”.
According to LDEA Officer In-Charge, Fitzgerald Biago, the officer acted swiftly based on credible intelligence and the vigilance Joint Security officers assigned at Roberts International Airport.
Officer In-Charge Biago noted that the well planned targeted operation conducted on June 8, 2026, led to the interception of 198 compressed plates of cocaine concealed in six cargo boxes.
He said the seizure represents one of the most significant narcotics interceptions in recent times and demonstrates the effectiveness of the ongoing reforms, intelligence-driven operations, and strengthened interagency cooperation within Liberia’s security sector.
“Investigations are actively underway, and persons of interest have been identified, LDEA remains fully committed to ensuring that every individual connected to this criminal network is identified, investigated, and prosecuted in accordance with the law”.
Office in charge Biago noted that the operation sends an unequivocal message that Liberia is not a transit point, marketplace, or haven for drug traffickers. He added that LDEA will continue to relentlessly pursue criminal networks, secure Liberia’s borders, and protect the citizens from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
