Monrovia: Several alleged gang members from Louisiana Township have been ordered detained in prison after Criminal Court โDโ at the Temple of Justice began proceedings in a case involving Armed robbery, Attempted murder, Theft of property, and other offenses from a violent attack on a warehouse worker and the alleged theft of more than US$33,000 worth of construction materials.
The presiding judge of Criminal Court โDโ, Her Honor Mameita Jabateh-Sirleaf, has ordered all of the defendants remanded to prison, including Augustine Dedoway, Massayan K. Jallah, Morris Wright, Arthur Morris, Varnee Gbassay, Johnson Teah, David (surname yet to be identified), Madison W.M. Gblinwon, and several others, pending the final determination of the case.
The defendants are facing multiple criminal charges, including Armed robbery, Criminal attempt to commit murder, Theft of property, Aiding and abetting the commission of a crime, and Criminal mischief.
According to court records, complainant Blama Wright alleged that on March 4, 2026, the defendants went to his warehouse and confronted his son, George Teah, at gunpoint while armed with cutlasses and other deadly weapons.
The complaint alleges that the defendants repeatedly beat and slashed Teah on the left side of his neck with a cutlass, inflicting serious injuries to his neck and other parts of his body.
They are further accused of stealing property valued at US$33,140 from the warehouse, where the items were being stored for construction purposes.
Court records further state that one of the defendants, Emmanuel Gbenpolu, identified as the alleged gang leader, was the first to assault the private prosecutor by striking him in the chest with such force that he fell to the ground.
The complaint alleges that Gbenpolu subsequently ran toward the victim with a cutlass, assaulted him, and inflicted injuries to his left hand.
After allegedly carrying out the attack, the defendants went to Mr. Wrightโs warehouse, where they forcibly entered and removed several construction materials, including an air conditioner, wheelbarrow, steel rods, a power saw, zinc sheets, a double door, and other valuable items.
According to the prosecution, defendant Morris Wright ordered the warehouse door broken open and instructed the group to remove the building’s contents.
The court records quote Wright as saying: โTake everything from this warehouse because this place is not for Blama Wright. It is our land. This land belongs to us. The example we set on his warehouse boy will send the message to him.โ
