Court Sentences 56year Old Women After Killing Three Grandchildren

Sanniquellie City: A 56-year-old woman, Mary Giah, has been Sentenced to 25 Years in prison after court found her guilty of killing three of her grandchildren on February 22, 2026 in Mehnla Town, Nimba County
Ninth District.
Police findings revealed that Mary Giah told committed the act to “prove she is a witch physically following and investigation claiming she was influenced by a demonic spirit.
According to the Police. the children’s mother, Mercy Giah left the children with the defendant on February 21, 2026 during the night house while she spent the night away from home.
The defendant noted that she was angered by repeated accusations by her daughter’s boyfriend calling witchcraft which led to her a knife and razor blade to carry out the act something that left the community in deep shock and mourning.
The sentencing was met with emotional reactions from residents of Town and surrounding communities, many describing the ruling as justice for the victims.
Community members said the court’s decision sends a strong warning against violence toward children and helps restore peace following the horrifying tragedy that left the county in mourning.
Mary Giah was convicted following court proceedings after Nimba County’s Grand Jury earlier returned a True Bill against her for the crime of murder, determining that prosecutors had presented sufficient evidence for trial.
The victims are identified as Mewah Giah, 6yrs, Marvelous Zainsaye, 4yrs, and Alvina Tokpah, 2yrs.
