Monrovia : The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) is in gear to withdraw from its independent effort to construct the Jor River Bridge in Bong County, following the Ministry of Public Works’ formal presentation of a $1.3 million technical plan for the project.

Speaking to Reporters Hon. Musa Hassan after Tuesday’s plenary session, said the party would “back off” and allow the government to take full responsibility for the construction.

highlighting major differences between the ministry’s cost projection and the party’s earlier proposal, which estimated the bridge at $450,000.

According to Bility, the inflated estimate raises concerns about potential overpricing and misuse of public funds. However, he stressed that CMC would respect the government’s statutory authority and comply with all regulations governing infrastructure works.

“We have presented our project proposal, which the minister did not object to, but we will remove everything we have deployed on the road and allow the government to build the bridge,” he said.

He further disclosed that the party will redirect its resources to other communities in need of infrastructure, ensuring that all future interventions align with the Ministry of Public Works’ guidelines and approval processes.

Mr Roland Giddings Minister of Public Works informed lawmakers that the ministry had completed all required technical assessments, including designs and bills of quantity, emphasizing that only the government can authorize construction on public roads and bridges in line with national standards.
