Monrovia, Liberia July 22, 2024:
Granex Group Inc., a leader in Liberia’s cocoa, coffee, and palm oil sectors, has bolstered the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) by donating four motorbikes and 40 bags of 25kg rice.
The contribution aims to enhance LACRA’s operational capacity and support its mission to govern and promote agricultural trade and export across Liberia.
The donation ceremony, held at the Freeport of Monrovia on July 22, 2024, showcased the collaboration between the private sector and regulatory bodies to advance Liberia’s agricultural standards.
Granex Group’s Managing Director, Michael Kpoghomou, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering local farmers and ensuring the production of high-quality agricultural products.
“This support is part of our broader commitment to the agricultural sector, enabling LACRA to perform its duties effectively and maintain high standards, especially in ensuring companies or farmers produce quality products,” Kpoghomou stated.
He noted that the donation was not only aimed at addressing LACRA’s mobility challenges but also at boosting the morale of its dedicated staff, particularly as the nation (Liberia) approaches its 177th Independence Day on July 26, 2024.
He said his entity understands the significant challenges LACRA faces, especially in rural areas like Lofa and Nimba counties, therefore Granex Group Inc. is keen to support the authority’s efforts in reaching remote farmers and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Mr. Kpoghomu concluded that the motorbikes will be instrumental in facilitating field visits, allowing LACRA staff to engage directly with local communities and provide necessary support to farmers.
For his part, receiving the donation, LACRA Managing Director Christopher Sankolo expressed gratitude for the generous support, assuring that the authority, under the Boakai-Koung administration, would remain uncompromising in its regulatory functions.
“This donation is a significant boost to our operations, and we will not hesitate to enforce our standards rigorously,” Sankolo affirmed.
He also praised Godia Alpha Gongolee, the Deputy Director for Operations and Technical Services, for his instrumental role in facilitating the donation.
He said the partnership between Granex Group Inc. and LACRA exemplifies the collaborative spirit needed to drive Liberia’s agricultural sector forward.
Mr. Sankolo further highlighted the importance of such partnerships in addressing the challenges faced by the agricultural sector and ensuring its growth and sustainability.
“Collaborations like these are essential for achieving our goals and making a lasting impact on the industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, Godia Kortu Gongolee, LACRAโs Deputy Director for Operations and Technical Services, noted that as the country prepares to celebrate its 177th Independence Day, such initiatives are a testament to the potential for growth and development through united efforts.
He emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in enhancing the capabilities of public institutions to achieve common goals.
The donation from Granex Group Inc. represents a critical step in strengthening LACRAโs ability to perform its regulatory functions and support Liberia’s agricultural development.
