Quopa, Bong County: As a means of easing transportation and life challenges faced by residents of Bong County first district and Nimba County nine district, Representative Musa Bility of Nimba County seven district has broken grounds for the construction of a 90 Kilometer modern bridge to connect the two counties, through Laindin and Quopa, Nimba District Nine and Bong District One.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which was held at the weekend, in Quopa town, brought together several residents of the two counties including Cllr. Taiwan Gongloe and executives of the newly formed Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) Political Party. Giving a backdrop of the project, Representative Bility stated that the groundbreaking ceremony for constructing the bridge came following an appeal from Cllr. Gongloe, who Bility said he considers a legal father and mentor for many years.
Rep. Bility said the appeal was made after he asked Cllr. Gongloe, to choose anything he wants Bility to do for him in return for his many services offered over the years. The Nimba County lawmaker and political leader of the Citizens Movement for Change further stated that the bridge construction, which would be coupled with the pavement of the road from Nimba County District Nine to Bong County District One, would help relief the untold challenges faced by residents of the two counties and nearby areas.

The bridge, if constructed, would connect Tapata to Palala, through Nimba district nine and Bong district one. However, Rep. Bility told a large gathering at the groundbreaking ceremony that effective construction work for the two projects would commence in May and hopefully be dedicated to the public by early December 2025. Bility added that the bridge would be named as the “Tiawan Gongloe’s Bridge” and the total cost would be disclosed during the dedication ceremony.
Making remark earlier at the occasion, Cllr. Gongloe extended commendations to Rep. Bility for commencing his promise, calling on residents of the two counties to amalgamate efforts in making the project a reality. The renowned Liberian lawyer recounted the many challenges faced by residents of the two counties in transporting their local products to nearby market, especially, the popular Zoweinta Market in Bong County Electoral District One.
He expressed optimism that the project would be fully completed and dedicated to the public in due time. For their part, residents of the two counties expressed excitement over Rep. Bility’s thoughtfulness to undertake such initiative. They further promised to provide workfolks support to the project in making sure the plan comes to reality.
