SEN MOYE TO LAUNCH “CLEAN CITY CAMPAIGN” ACROSS BONG AS CITIZENS BENEFIT FREE MEDICAL ASSITANCE

Sonoyea, Bong County: As a means of supporting hygienic practices in rural communities in Liberia, Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye has announced the launch of a “Clean City Campaign” to affect major Cities across Bong County.

According to Sen Moye, the official launch of the “Clean City Campaign” will take place in Sonoyea Town in the coming days and same will be done in other major cities across Bong County. Those cities to benefit from the “Clean City Campaign” include Totota, Salala, Palala, Gbatala, Zowinta, Bong Minds, among others.

The disclosure was made by Senator Moye on Friday, December 27, 2024, in Sonoyea Town, where he had gone with a team of Government officials to celebrate his 49th birth anniversary with residents of Sonoyea and nearby Towns and Villiages.

As a means of jumpstarting the campaign, Senator Moye has presented a brand-new track cycle, along with twenty-five pieces of solar lights, shovels, grass cutters (whipper), rakes, rain boots, and raincoats. Additionally, Senator Moye made available seventy-five thousand Liberian dollars (LD $75,000.00) as initial contribution to start the “Clean City Campaign”   awareness in Sonoyea.

The Bong County lawmaker also emphasized the importance of having major towns captured under the 2003 Act upgraded to city status. The Local Government Act (LGA) of 2018 is a legislation that establishes the legal and regulatory framework for cities in Liberia. The LGA was signed into law on September 19, 2018, after a major collaborative work with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Governance Commission, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, and the Law Reform Commission.

Moreover, the Liberian census and statistics authority defines a city as a settlement with at least 5,000 inhabitants

At same time Several residents in Bong County have benefited from a Freed Medical Outreach sponsored by Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye. The gesture performed in collaboration with the Administrative Coordinator in the office of the Deputy Director General of NASSCORP Tormue Queminee was held in commemoration of Senator Moye’s 49th Birth Anniversary.

Major towns and cities captured under the goodwill initiative include Totota, Salala, Bong Mines, Gbonota, Baylatana, and Sonoyea.  Speaking to a cross-section of citizens at the closed of the event, in Sanoyea Town, Senator Moye said the initiative is their way of giving back to residents of the county. He added that, as sons of the county, and officials of government, it is their responsibility to seek the warfare of every resident of the county, void of political affiliation. The Bong County Senator told the gathering that a team of trained and professional medical doctors under the banner “Doctors Without Borders” was dispatched across major health facilities in Salala, Sanoyea, and Fuamah Districts to provide medical treatments for people living with diverse health problems.

Illnesses treated during the free medical outreach include Malaria, Typhoid, High Blood Pressure, and Diarrhoea. Others are High Sugar, Hearing impairment, and Eye problems. However, Senator Moye noted that besides those treated for the above-mentioned illnesses, people who also tested positive for operational health complications will be referred to the C.B Dunbar Hospital in Gbarnga by March 2025 to undergo surgeries.

Also speaking to reporters at the event, National Social Security and Welfare Cooperation (NASSCORP) Representative Tormue Queminee emphasized the importance of providing such services to residents of the county. He added that as Government officials, it is difficult for everyone to get helping hands through money distributions; in so doing, undertaking such initiatives would be beneficial to all.

Mr. Queminee, however, assured Bongese that their contributions through such an initiative would cut across all sectors in every district of Bong County to benefit everyone. He then called on beneficiaries of the free medical outreach not to hide any illness bordering them, with an assurance of catering to every patient. Meanwhile, the citizens appreciated Senator Moye and his team for the gesture. Stating the importance of the initiative to their communities in a time of various health needs.  The initiative took place on Friday, December 27, 2024.
