Monrovia: A bill proposing the establishment of Rivercess Community College in Cestos City has been submitted to the plenary of the House of Representatives. The bill which was introduced by Hon. Steve Tequah, River Cess District #2 Representative, highlights several key benefits the institution would bring to the county if enacted into law.
According to Hon. Tequah, the community college when established, will increase access to education by eliminating financial and geographic barriers that currently hinder many residents from pursuing higher learning. He noted that it will also serve as a center for skill development and workforce readiness, offering vocational training tailored to local industries to enhance employment opportunities.
Beyond education and employment, the proposed institution is expected to foster community engagement and lifelong learning by hosting workshops, seminars, and continuing education programs.
Additionally, it aims to stimulate economic growth by attracting students from surrounding areas, thereby boosting local businesses and job creation. Culturally, the college will serve as a space for social cohesion and development, promoting inclusivity and dialogue through community events.
Hon. Tequah also emphasized the potential for partnerships with local industries, ensuring that the curriculum aligns with market needs and facilitates internship and job placement opportunities. “The enactment of the Rivercess Community College bill represents a significant step toward empowering our community through education and skill development,” Hon. Tequah stated, urging his colleagues to support the initiative. Following its submission, the bill has been forwarded to the committees on Education, Ways, Means, Finance, and Judiciary for further review and deliberation.
If passed, Rivercess Community College would mark a major milestone in expanding educational opportunities and driving socio-economic growth in Rivercess County.
