ActionAid International Visits Liberia to Strengthen Partnership and Assess Development Programs

Monrovia: ActionAid International is visiting Liberia to Strengthen Partnership, Assess Development Programs and as well to advance discussions on social justice, gender equality, youth empowerment, and climate action.
ActionAid International Secretary General Arthur Larok according to ActionAid Liberia,is expected to engage Government institutions, civil society organizations, international development partners, youth movements, and community-based organizations during his stay in the country.
Larok arrived in the country on June 15, 2026
The organization said the visit demonstrates ActionAid International’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s development agenda and fostering stronger collaboration with key stakeholders.
ActionAid Liberia noted that the visit will provide an opportunity to evaluate the achievements and challenges of its programs across the country while exploring new opportunities for partnerships, resource mobilization, organizational growth, and institutional strengthening.
As part of his engagements, Larok is expected to hold courtesy meetings with officials of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the European Union Delegation to Liberia.
He will also participate in a networking and partnership meeting with civil society organizations aimed at promoting stronger collaboration and collective action.
ActionAid International leader is also expected to meet representatives of United Nations agencies, the Embassy of Sweden, and international non-governmental organizations operating in Liberia.
According to a statement from ActionAid Liberia, discussions will focus on strengthening coordination among development partners and ensuring that resources and decision-making are increasingly directed toward local communities and actors.
According to ActionAid, the meetings will also deepen collaboration between ActionAid International and the United Nations Country Team in advancing sustainable development, civic accountability, and gender-responsive programming in Liberia.
“A major highlight of the visit will be Larok’s engagement with youth-led groups and grassroots organizations on June 18, and Participants will include the Federation of Liberian Youth, District Feminist Movements, Activista Liberia, the Young Urban Women’s Movement, climate justice advocates, and members of community-based organizations within the ActionAid network”
The statement added.According to ActionAid Liberia, the engagement will allow young people and community actors to share their experiences, achievements, and challenges while identifying practical ways to transfer power, resources, and decision-making authority to youth-led organizations.
“Through these engagements, ActionAid International will reaffirm its commitment to feminist leadership, human rights, social justice, climate justice, and locally led development,” the organization stated. It added that the visit seeks to strengthen alignment with Liberia’s national development priorities while promoting women’s rights, youth empowerment, and community-driven solutions for a more equitable future.
The visit will conclude with a media briefing at the ActionAid Liberia Country Office in Tarr Town, Old Road, Monrovia, on June 18, where Larok is expected to share key outcomes of his engagements and outline future opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders.
Arthur Larok is expected to depart Liberia on June 19, 2026.
