HOUSE LIFTS REP KAMARA SUSPENSION, EXTENDS REPS COLE AND FLOMO

March 19, 2025

Monrovia: The Plenary of the House of Representatives has voted to extend the suspension of Bong County Electoral District #3 Representative, Hon. Marvin Cole, and Montserrado County Electoral District #13 Representative, Hon. Edward Papie Flomo, for an additional thirty (30) session days.

The decision was reached during the 16th Day Sitting of the First Quarter of the 2nd Session held on Tuesday, 18 March, following reports of repeated violations of Plenary’s previous mandate by the two lawmakers. Both Representatives were seen on multiple occasions within the premises of the Capitol Building, in direct defiance of the terms of their initial suspension by plenary. In the Legislature, the plenary is the highest decision-making body.

It can be recalled that on November 19, 2024, the House of Representatives suspended Reps. Cole, Flomo, and Montserrado County District #15 Representative, Hon. Abu Bana Kamara, for misconduct, with conditions that they were not to appear around the Capitol Building and that all salaries and benefits were to be withheld during the period of suspension.

Plenary noted that while Rep. Kamara complied with the terms of his suspension, Reps. Cole and Flomo continuously disregarded

Plenary’s decision. As a result, their suspension has been extended until May 2025, bringing the total number of lawmakers currently under suspension to 18 members including the Grand Kru County Electoral District #2 Representative, Hon. Fonati Koffa.

Meanwhile, the suspension of Rep. Abu Bana Kamara has been lifted, with Plenary restoring all rights, privileges, and benefits to the Montserrado County lawmaker following his adherence to the terms of his suspension.

The House remains committed to upholding discipline and the rule of law within its ranks to ensure integrity and respect for legislative procedures.
