CSA Boss Proposes Creation of Joint Inter-Ministerial Taskforce to Review Non-compliant Permits

Moneovia: The Civil Service Agency boss Dr. Josiah Joekai has proposed the creation of joint Inter-Ministerial taskforce to immediate review non-complant permits.
The CSA boss wants the development of a national job portal to ensure transparency, fair competition and urgent reform and enforcement.
Dr. Joekai appearing before the Senate on Tuesday June 17, 2025, reveals that a total of 10,103 work permits were issued to foreign nationals in 2024.
He said out Of this number, 8,792 are regular permits, 438 are ECOWAS permits, while 873 fall under the GRATIS category.
The CSA boss also noted that 1,032 permits, representing nearly 70%, were granted for jobs officially reserved for Liberians, prompting concerns about compliance with Chapter 45.1(c) of the Decent Work Act, which prioritizes Liberian labor.
He further advocated for increased training and capacity-building programs to prepare Liberians for high-skill roles currently occupied by foreigners.
The Senate received the presentation with high interest, signaling a potential shift toward stronger protection of Liberian workers.
