Former LTA Boss and Tamma Corporation CEO Arrested and Jailed Over Corruption Allegations

Monrovia: Liberia Telecommunications Authority former boss and the current CEO of Tamma Corporation has been arrested and Jailed over allegation of Corruption

Mr. Abdullai L. Kamara was arrested and jailed on order of Criminal Court “C” in Montserrado on charges of Economic Sabotage, theft of property, misapplication of entrusted property, criminal facilitation, criminal solicitation and criminal conspiracy issued by Judge Ousman F. Feika, on September 8, 2025.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission has since confirmed the arrest and detention of Mr. Kamara noting that the case is expected to proceed to trial this October term of court at Criminal Court C, “This arrest sends a strong message, no individual or institution is above the law,” Cllr. Bobby Livingstone- LACC Lead Prosecutor said.

The indictment, which is based on an extensive investigation done by LACC, accuses Mr. Kamara and co-defendant, Fabian Laveland, CEO of Tamma Corporation, of illegally disbursing public funds and falsifying official records causing significant financial loss to the state.

The alleged corruption case has sparked national attention, casting a spotlight on Tamma Corporation and signaling the government’s renewed commitment to fighting high-level corruption. As the high-profile trial approaches, many see it as a potential turning point in Liberia’s broader effort to hold public and private sector leaders accountable for economic crimes.

LACC alleged that Kamara and others illegally disbursed state funds and falsified records, resulting in major financial losses for the Liberian government.

According to reports, court recently drops all charges against the former LTA boss and restores his Constitutional Rights after been indicted by GAC n̈ suspended by President based on

following a damning audit report from the General Auditing Commission which details allegations of financial misconduct during Mr. Kamara’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of TAMMA Corporation.

The report highlighted questionable transactions involving public funds and significant financial irregularities.

“Having carefully reviewed the prosecution’s application to nolle prosequi the charges previously brought against the defendant, Abdullah L. Kamara, and having found that there exists insufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution, and further considering that the constitutional rights of the accused must be upheld in accordance with due process under Liberian law: IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that all criminal charges heretofore brought against the defendant, Abdullah L. Kamara, are hereby dropped”. Court document stated.
