Former Presidential Aide, Sekou Kalasco Damaro Accused of Hiking Project Costs in Margibi County

Kakata Margibi : A staunch Unity Party supporter in Margibi County now turned political commentator, Emmanuel Cooper, has accused former presidential aide Sekou Kalasco Damaro of grossly hiking the cost of community projects in District 3,  Margibi County.

Speaking on a local radio talk show in Kakata, Cooper criticized the US$16,500 price tag for a recently dedicated footpath bridge linking the Dartu-ta and Mandingo Quarter communities in Kakata.

The bridge completed recently by the former Presidential Aide, was initially celebrated as a vital solution to long-standing accessibility challenges for residents of both communities. However, Cooper claimed the actual construction cost was far less than reported, describing the valuation as an unjustified overstatement.

He argued that Damaro, who served as presidential aide under former president Weah from 2018 – 2023 has no meaningful impact on young margibians. ‘’Kalasco failed to bring meaningful development or opportunities to the youth of Margibi County during his six years in the presidency.

But look today, he is here dedicating small projects as a means of getting political power in the 2029 election’’ he added. Commentator Cooper, at the same time, labeled Damaro as “nonessential” to the county’s political landscape and vowed to launch a civic awareness campaign in District #3 to discourage residents from supporting Damaro’s anticipated run for the House of Representatives in 2029.

“In my view, Sekou Kalasco Damaro remains an unimportant figure in Margibi politics,” Cooper asserted. “His years in high office yielded no tangible benefits for our young people.” He called on residents to be careful about who they elect as their leader in 2029, as their decision will have a long-lasting impact on their lives and the future of their children.

Damaro, who has yet to publicly respond to the allegations, is widely believed to be positioning himself for a political comeback in Margibi County. He has dedicated several projects and provided financial assistance and scholarships to students in District #3, Margibi County. Some residents see him as the direct replacement for current representative Ellen Attoh Wreh in the 2029 General election.

But critics described the former presidential aide’s activities in the county as a strategy to strengthen Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in Margibi County.
