President Boakai Leads Cabinet Ministers In Signing Book Of Condolence For Ghana’s Heavily Mourned Officials

Monrovia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., today stood in solemn unity with members of his Cabinet as they signed the Book of Condolence for the tragic loss of high-ranking Ghanaian officials who perished in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

The ceremony, held at the Ghanaian Embassy in Congo Town, served as a poignant moment of regional solidarity and mourning.

On behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, President Boakai conveyed his deepest sympathies to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the People of Ghana. He paid tribute to the legacy of those lost, calling the crash “a national tragedy felt across our shared West African family.”

The deceased officials include:

• Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defense

• Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation

• Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator  

• Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chair, National Democratic Congress

• Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate

• Three Ghana Armed Forces crew members: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer

Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

President Boakai recalled that the late Defense Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah, recently attended Liberia’s 178th Independence Day celebrations in Monrovia, bringing warmth, solidarity, and the spirit of African brotherhood to our national pride.

“Only days ago, Minister Boamah stood among us symbolizing the enduring strength of Liberia–Ghana relations,” the President reflected.

The President highlighted Liberia’s commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ghana in this time of grief and mourning. “We join you in honoring the memories of these dedicated public servants. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten,” he concluded.
