Gender Receives Vehicles and Motorbikes to Boost the Liberia Women Empowerment Project

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has received fleet of vehicles and motorbikes from Plan International Liberia as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery under the Liberia Women Empowerment Project
The Logistics which will be deliver to service providers in Six of the project counties is aimed at boosting the Liberia Women Empowerment work and enhance the mobility and operational reach of LWEP field teams, enabling them to better serve remote communities and deliver on key project goals.
The vehicles and motorbikes were allocated across service provider organizations based on their operational needs and geographical areas of coverage, a strategic approach aimed at maximizing efficiency and impact in project implementation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, Deputy Minister for Administration, Frederick Cooper, thanked Plan International Liberia for the leadership and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring proper asset management and impactful usage.
“We appreciate this generous support from Plan International Liberia, this logistics will go a long way in empowering our service providers to reach more women and girls, let me be clear: these assets are government property and must be used exclusively for project activities, at the end of LWEP, they will return to the Ministry to support future development work.” Mr. Frederick said.
“In remarks, Madam Miriam Murray, Country Representative of Plan International Liberia, emphasized that the organization’s support is aligned with the project’s vision to transform lives through accessible and inclusive services. “We are proud to support the Government of Liberia through this handover,” she said.
Madam Miriam Murray added “These vehicles and motorbikes as well as the tablets are vital tools to help our partners reach women and girls in the most underserved communities. We trust the Ministry and the service providers will put them to impactful use.”
She reaffirmed Plan’s commitment to effective partnership, accountability, and long-term sustainability of the project. The Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP)is a flagship initiative of the Government of Liberia, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The project aims to enhance the social and economic empowerment of women and girls, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
The Implementation is being carried out by a consortium of experienced service providers, led by Plan International Liberia, and includes: ActionAid Liberia Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Medica Liberia Defense for Children International (DCI) Foundation for Community Initiatives (FCI) KEEP Liberia
The turnover ceremony, held at the Ministerial Complex, marked the presentation of four (4) Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles and twenty-two (22) motorbikes comprising 11 Yamaha and 11 Honda models.
