Belém, Brazil: A high-powered Liberian delegation is currently engaged with series of high-level engagements in Belém, Brazil, ahead of the official opening of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

The delegation’s participation underscores Liberia’s growing commitment to climate action, sustainable finance, and environmental protection.

The ongoing meetings bring together global leaders, negotiators, and policymakers to align strategies that will guide climate financing, resilience building, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement targets.

Deputy Minister for Economic Management at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Mr. Zuo and Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with other members of the Liberian delegation, have been actively engaging in strategic sessions and bilateral discussions to ensure Liberia’s climate priorities and national interests are clearly articulated in the broader COP30 agenda.

As part of the major activities planned for Liberia’s participation, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will officially open the Liberia Pavilion on Monday, November 10, 2025.

The pavilion will serve as a platform to showcase Liberia’s achievements and progress in environmental protection, forest conservation, renewable energy promotion, and climate change mitigation.

It will also highlight the nation’s ongoing efforts to transition toward a green and sustainable economy.

Other members of the Liberian delegation are also attending various technical and side meetings that form part of the pre-COP30 activities. These engagements are aimed to strengthen coordination among government institutions, development partners, and civil society actors working on climate-related programs.

The Conference of the Parties (COP30), taking place from November 10–21, 2025, will bring together more than 190 countries under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This year’s conference is expected to focus on accelerating global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, expand access to climate finance, and support adaptation initiatives in vulnerable countries such as Liberia.
