Monrovia: In a major stride toward strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system, the government has officially placed 600 healthcare volunteer workers on the national payroll.

The announcement was made by Josiah Joekai, Director-General of the Civil Service Agency, during a press briefing organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism (MICAT).

This landmark decision marks a turning point for the country’s healthcare sector, offering long-awaited recognition, job security, and financial stability to workers who have served selflessly across communities nationwide.

“The addition of these 600 volunteers is a testament to our government’s commitment to healthcare reform and the welfare of those who serve on the front lines,” said Joekai.

According to the Civil Service Agency, the remaining 161 volunteer workers are currently undergoing a review process, with potential for future integration into the payroll system. This inclusive approach underlines the government’s dedication to acknowledging the efforts of all healthcare providers.

The initiative is expected to boost morale among healthcare workers and enhance service delivery in medical facilities throughout Liberia.

This move has been widely welcomed as a progressive step toward rebuilding a resilient healthcare workforce and ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to saving others receive the support and compensation they deserve.
