National Integrity Forum, CENTAL Conduct Community Anti-Corruption Awareness

Monrovia: The National Integrity Forum (NIF), in collaboration with the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has concluded a day long Anti-Corruption Awareness Session with residents of local communities under the national theme: “If You See Something, Say Something.”
The initiative, held at the Mary Help Christian School, brought together men, women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The session aimed to strengthen collaboration in tackling corruption, promote accountability, increase citizens’ knowledge of anti-corruption laws, and expand the visibility of NIF in communities.
In remarks, Mr. Anderson D. Miamen, Executive Director of CENTAL, encouraged participants to be active voices against corruption within their communities. He stressed the need for NIF members and citizens to work together, build partnerships, and foster accountability to collectively combat corruption.
Also West Africa Accountability Lab Representative Mr. Lawrence Yealue urged citizens not to remain silent but to report acts of corruption whenever and wherever they occur.
“As we have gathered here today, let’s not keep information to ourselves. We should share it for the better growth and development of our country. Tell somebody to tell somebody. Let’s teach about the negative effects of corruption and always report it,” he said.
In response participants express deep excitement vowing to teach and also report every act of corruptions within their various community “we are happy and so much grateful to CENTAL and it’s partners for affording us this unique opportunity we promise to report every act of corruptions and also spread this message we have learned today on how to tackle it ” they added.
The National Integrity Forum (NIF) is a consortium of anti-graft institutions working to promote transparency, accountability, and integrity in Liberia. The activity forms part of the National Integrity Building and Anti-Corruption Program, supported by the Embassy of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
