TWO UK EXPERTS ARRIVE IN LIBERIA TO HELP RETRIVE STOLEN ASSETS

Monrovia: The Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force has received two international experts from the Forensic Technologies International Consulting based in the United Kingdom to provide support to ongoing assets recovery in the county.
Andrew Durant and Wayne Anthony arrived in the county on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. According to the head of AREPT, the visit marks a major step in Liberia’s efforts to trace and recover assets acquired through illicit means by former Government officials.
Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin noted that experts visit underscores FTI Consulting’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s efforts to recover stolen assets emphasizing that their visit has demonstrated their commitment offering to conduct an initial two-week case assessment at their own expense.
According to a statement issued by AREPT, FTI Consulting is internationally recognized for its expertise in asset tracking and forensic investigations. The firm has successfully assisted governments, central banks, and financial institutions in uncovering and repatriating stolen funds in several countries, including the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Andrew Durant, a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, leads the Forensic Accounting Services practice across London, the Middle East, and Africa with over 30 years of experience in asset tracking and forensic investigations. He has worked extensively across Africa, Europe, the US, and Asia. Recognized as a leader, he has investigated financial fraud, corruption, bribery, and asset misappropriation worldwide.
Wayne Anthony on the other hand, is a forensic accounting and fraud investigation expert with over 25 years of experience who has led numerous high-profile asset tracing projects.
He has worked in complex cross-border investigations across jurisdictions, including Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, and Iraq. Anthony previously managed FTI Consulting’s forensic accounting practice in the UAE and played a key role in investigations into financial fraud and misappropriation of assets.
The Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force was established to lead Liberia’s efforts in tracing, recovering, and prosecuting cases of illegal conversion of public assets.
The task force operates under the renewed mandate of Executive Order No. 145, signed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. Executive order reaffirms the Government’s commitment to recovering stolen assets and ensuring accountability.
Under the Leadership of Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, AREPT, is dedicated to investigating and retrieving both fixed and liquid assets misappropriated by current and former officials. The task force plays a vital role in the fight against corruption, ensuring that recovered assets contribute to national development.
