Monrovia: The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Liberia has officially debunked rumors circulating on social media that national exam results would be released this Wednesday.

According to the council, the claim is both false and misleading. Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Tuesday, WAEC Liberia Head Mr. Dale Gbotoe announced that the official release of results is scheduled for next week either Tuesday, August 12, or Thursday, August 14 and will be made available via the Ministry of Information’s official platform.

“We are about 99% ready,” Gbotoe said. “Our commitment remains to publish the results before August 15.” WAEC Liberia oversaw the administration of four major national exams in 2025: 3rd Grade – Liberia National Assessment Test (LNAT) 6th Grade Liberia Primary School Certificate Exam (LPSCE) 9th Grade Junior High School Certificate Exam (JHSCE) 12th Grade WASSCE All results will be released simultaneously.

Gbotoe emphasized that before results can be made public, they must first be submitted to the Ministry of Education, which in turn notifies the Office of the President.

This procedure is designed to prevent the media from breaking the news before official channels. The WAEC head also addressed delays, attributing them to additional care taken this year in light of 2024’s issues, when exam papers were incorrectly marked. “We had to manually review answer sheets to remove improper marks before scanning,” he explained.

This year, more than 180,000 students participated in the national exams. The Government of Liberia funded the exam fees for over 80,000 candidates, including: Over 53,000 12th graders More than 23,000 9th graders from public schools Gbotoe thanked the government for its continued support and urged students, parents, and the general public to disregard unofficial reports.
