188 Students Benefit Educational Scholarship in Margibi County

In an effort to boost capacity building through education, a total of 188 students from Margibi County District #2 have benefited from an educational scholarship initiative sponsored by Honorable Ivar K. Jones.
The scholarship program, which forms part of Hon. Jones’ continued commitment to improving the lives of school-going children, was officially held on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Cotton Tree, Mboo Statutory District.
During the ceremony, Hon. Jones presented certificates and official payment receipts to more than 188 beneficiaries under the program. Speaking at the event, Representative Ivar K. Jones disclosed that the scholarship initiative has been ongoing since 2016 and will continue to support students across the district.
“I strongly believe in making meaningful and long-lasting impacts in the lives of our people, particularly through education. This is not a new trajectory; it has been ongoing since 2016, and I will continue to support students across the district” he stated.
The lawmaker further emphasized that the scholarship is being implemented under the banner of the Progressive Friends of Ivar Jones (PROFIJ) an initiative aimed at promoting education, employment, and community development within Margibi County.
Hon. Jones also called on parents and school administrators to devote more time and attention to the education sector, noting that education plays a critical role in strengthening society.
He described education as a shared responsibility, while reaffirming his commitment to sustaining educational opportunities for young people in the district.
According to him, investing in education remains key to building a stronger and more empowered society. Meanwhile, beneficiaries and parents expressed deep excitement and appreciation to Hon. Jones for what they described as a timely and impactful initiative. Many praised the lawmaker for easing the financial burden on struggling families.
“We have been struggling to afford our children’s school fees. We are so happy today, Honorable Jones. Thank you for lifting this burden off our shoulders. This support is timely and truly life-changing for us” They said
