May  24, 2026

Monrovia: The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) will on Monday, 25 May 2026, officially sign a sub-grant agreement with the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation (KtK) under the European Union-funded PEACEGEN Liberia.

The signing will take place at the historic WIPNET Peace Hut gathering point, Invincible Park, Monrovia. The signing represents a significant milestone for FeJAL and Liberia’s peacebuilding community at a time as Liberia continues strengthening its pathway toward transitional justice, accountability, healing, and inclusive peacebuilding.

The initiative according to a release from Fejal, reflects growing national efforts to address the legacy of conflict through dialogue, remembrance, community engagement, and survivor-centered approaches that promote non-recurrence and social cohesion.

The cost of the subgrant is $60,000EUROs. PEACEGEN aims to strengthen the meaningful participation and leadership of youth and women in Liberia’s ongoing peacebuilding, conflict prevention, decision- making transitional justice processes at local and national levels. Through the PEACEGEN Liberia Project, FeJAL will contribute to national efforts aimed at deepening transitional justice, memorialization, and community-based peacebuilding across five counties in Liberia.

Those counties are Bomi, Bong, Montserrado, Nimba, and Sinoe. The initiative recognizes the critical role of women, youth, and the media in sustaining peace and fostering reconciliation in post-conflict communities. As part of its implementation responsibilities, FeJAL will facilitate creative workshops, document intergenerational peace initiatives through photography, map independent media outlets, and train radio stations on youth-responsive, gender-sensitive, and conflict-sensitive reporting.

These activities are intended to strengthen public awareness, promote inclusive dialogue, and ensure that the voices of women, youth, and survivors remain central to Liberia’s peace and justice processes. The signing ceremony at the famous WIPNET Peace Hut carries deep symbolic importance.

The Peace Hut stands as a reminder of the courage and resilience of Liberian women who mobilized for peace during the civil crisis and continues to serve as a beacon of hope, healing, and collective action for future generations. FeJAL believes the partnership with KtK and the European Union demonstrates renewed confidence in local women-led organizations and the important role community media and civil society continue to play in preserving Liberia’s hard-earned peace.

As Liberia continues its journey toward reconciliation and social cohesion, FeJAL remains committed to using journalism, storytelling, and community engagement as tools for justice, healing, accountability, and lasting peace.

The official launch of the PEACEGEN Liberia Project is expected during the week of 22 June 2026.
