Ghana Armed Forces Conducts Study Tour In Liberia

Barclay Training Center, Monrovia: The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College Senior Course (GAFCSC) 46, Study Tour Africa, visited Headquarters, Armed Forces of Liberia to obtain a brief on Armed Forces of Liberia’s role in Disaster Response, Civil Military Cooperation in Humanitarian Relief.

This presentation gave an overview of the Armed Forces of Liberia in working relationship with the international community and civil authority. The aim of the pre sensation was to acquaint participants of GAFCSC Senior Course 46 on AFL’s role in disaster response.

The scope of the brief covered the recognition of civil leadership in disaster response, relationship of the AFL with civilian organizations, information sharing and coordination between governmental and non-governmental organizations, contingency plans to disaster response, among others.

This delves into how the Armed Forces of Liberia contributed to national resilience, supported civilian authorities, and demonstrated the importance of regional cooperation and preparedness.

According to a statement from the AFL, Brigadier General BB Owusu, Assistant Commandant, Junior Division, headed the GAFCSC delegation, which comprised members of Directing Staff and participants of Ghana Armed Forces and Senior Course 46. It is the hope of the High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia that this interaction will offer valuable insights and stimulate cross learning between Ghana Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Liberia.

The Armed Forces of Liberia is honored to host the delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College to foster stronger ties between both militaries through the exchange of knowledge and experiences within military education training.

This visit to Liberia marks the 46th African Study Tour. The Armed Forces of Liberia views this visit as significant and much anticipated event that further strengthen the relationship between both militaries.

The GAFCSC delegation arrived in Liberia on Sunday, 4 May 25, and paid a courtesy call to the Minister of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia on Monday, 5 May 2025. While in Liberia, the GAFCSC delegation is expected to visit and obtain a brief from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, National Disaster Management Agency, Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation.

The delegation is expected to make a field trip to CARI, Central Agriculture Research Institute, Gbarnga, Bong County Liberia.
