The President-elect of the Legislative Press Pool (LEGISPOOL), Emmanuel Kollie, has called on all accredited journalists covering the House of Representatives and the Liberian Senate to uphold professionalism, ethical journalism, and responsible conduct as the Third Session of the National Legislature officially begins
Speaking during a press conference held at the Capitol building on Tuesday January 13, 2026, Mr. Kollie reminded members of the press pool that they are trained media professionals entrusted with the responsibility of accurately informing the public about legislative proceedings.
He emphasized that fairness, balance, respect for institutional processes, and strict adherence to journalistic ethics must guide all reporting throughout the session.
According to the LEGISPOOL President-elect, heightened public interest and increased political sensitivity surrounding the new legislative session require journalists to exercise greater caution and responsibility in their coverage.
He warned against sensationalism, personal bias, misinformation, and the dissemination of unverified reports, noting that such practices undermine public confidence in legislative journalism.
Mr. Kollie further urged members to maintain mutual respect among colleagues and to engage constructively with lawmakers, legislative staff, and security personnel, in line with established protocols governing access and coverage at the National Legislature.
Reaffirming LEGISPOOL’s commitment to promoting principled, responsible, and credible legislative reporting, he added that public trust in the media largely depends on the professionalism demonstrated by journalists covering the nation’s highest lawmaking institution. The Legislative Press Pool (LEGISPOOL) is composed of accredited journalists assigned to cover proceedings of the House of Representatives and the Liberian Senate. .
