MCSS Superintendent Suspended Over Allegation of Corruption

Monrovia: The Monrovia Consolidated School System Superintendent James A.S. Momoh has been suspended over acts of alleged corruption pending investigation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 by Executive Mansion indicated that the MCSS Superintendent suspension takes immediate action and without pay, pending the conclusion of a full and impartial investigation into allegations of administrative and financial misconduct.

The suspension follows reports received by the Office of the President, which include the unauthorized procurement of 6,500 desks and chairs, valued at USD 357,500.

The E-mansion statement noted that there was an alleged kickback schemes involving MCSS personnel, highlighted in a report by the Financial Intelligence Agency of Liberia.

According to the statement, on July 11, 2024, a USD 451,150.60 contract was signed for laboratory supplies and services reportedly executed outside of established procurement procedures. The office of the President added that the allegations, indicate a disturbing pattern of mismanagement and potential corruption under Superintendent Momoh’s leadership prompting his immediate suspension and investigation

President has directed the Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission (LACC) and relevant government entities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter In line with the Government’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and the rule of law under the ARREST Agenda,

Superintendent Momoh, according to the statement, is further instructed to fully cooperate with the LACC and immediately hand over all MCSS property and official documents in his possession to the Chairperson of the MCSS Board, Mr. John-Charuk Siafa.
