Women Legislative Caucus Condemns Alleged Rape and Brutal Murder of Liberian Canadian Women in Margibi County

Monrovia: The Chairperson of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia, Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh has strongly condemned the alleged rape and brutal murder of the late Ciannah Goe, a Liberian citizen who had recently returned home from Canada.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred at her newly constructed residence in Marshall, Margibi County.
Hon. Attoh-Wreh on behalf of the Caucus expressed profound sorrow and outrage over this heinous act and has at the same time extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during these deeply painful time on behalf of the WLC”
“It is both heartbreaking and unacceptable that a woman returning to contribute to her homeland would fall victim to such inhumane violence”.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Caucus called on the Liberia National Police and all relevant authorities to conduct a swift, transparent, and impartial investigation into the matter.
“Justice must be served not only to bring closure to the family but also to reaffirm Liberia’s commitment to safeguarding the lives, rights, and dignity of all women and girls,” the Hon. Wreh asserts.
She added “This case underscores the urgent national need to intensify efforts against sexual and gender-based violence, ensure accountability for perpetrators, and create a safer society for every Liberian”.
The Women’s Legislative Caucus remains committed to working with all sectors governmental, civil society, and international partners to ensure that no one in Liberia lives in fear, especially in the place he she should feel safest her home and community, she noted.
LNP Statement on Ben Town Tragedy
The Liberia National Police has issued a statement saying it is actively investigating the disturbing incident. The victim, identified as Madam Sianneh Goe Ricks, a 45-year-old Liberian Canadian and resident of Ben Town, was found deceased in her room and tragically burned beyond recognition police said
