Nimba To Host 2025 Agriculture Fair, Minister Nuetah Discloses

Monrovia: The Minister of Agriculture Dr Alexander Neutah has announced Ganta Nimba County as the official venue for the 2025 Agriculture fair

The three-day National Agriculture Fair is aimed at empowering local farmers and showcasing their contributions to national development with the theme, “Empowering Farmers and Enriching the Nation,” from December 9–13, 2025.

Eestablished in 1956 by an act of the Legislature, Agriculture Fair intended to promote the work of farmers. The first fair took place on Randall street, Monrovia, while the first post- war Agriculture fair was held in 2006 in Bomi county.

The event will provide farmers from across the country an opportunity to exhibit their products and innovations in both indoor and outdoor settings

Speaking at the Ministry of Information cultural affairs and tourism, Minister Dr. Alexander Nuetah disclosed that president Joseph Boakai is expected to attend the  fair to address the progress and achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture

The Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting smallholder farmers through the provision of Agricultural materials and grants aimed at boosting productivity.

He revealed that the Ministry is currently engaged in the rehabilitation of feeder roads to enhance farmers access to markets and ensure smooth transportation of their produce. According to the Minister, about 200 kilometers of farm to market roads are being rehabilitation in Bong Lofa and Nimba counties and will be completed 2026.

The Minister urged development partners to continue supporting smallholder farmers across the country to strengthen Liberia’s food production and Agriculture sustainability.

“The National Agriculture fair was “If we support our farmers, we are not just supporting an individual we are building our nation, and we must do that together,” Dr. Nuetah emphasized. He described the upcoming fair as an exceptional initiative compared to previous agricultural exhibitions, noting that it will feature diverse displays from rural and urban farmers, agribusinesses, and agricultural cooperatives.

Dr. Nuetah disclosed that the President of Stokete University, the first African-founded university in the United States along with a delegation, is expected to attend and grace the occasion. He further stressed that the fair will serve as a platform to recognize and celebrate the efforts of Liberian farmers who have tirelessly contributed to feeding the nation and strengthening food security.

Highlighting the importance of agriculture to the Liberian economy, the Minister pointed out that rubber remains the highest generator of foreign revenue, and therefore, more investment and technical support should be directed toward increasing production to attract foreign investors. “This event will strengthen us in all capacities to equip more farmers, especially those in rural communities,” he added.

 Dr. Nuetah reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to boosting the production of cassava, cocoa, and rice, while commending the private sector for its vital role in driving agricultural growth and supporting local producers. “We call on all Liberians to attend and support the fair as a national effort to celebrate and empower the country’s hardworking farmers”.
