Vehicle Operator Accused of Killing Police Officer forwarded To Court

Monrovia: A vehicle operator, Francis Nana alleged of killing police officer Mark D. Bracewell, has been forwarded to court for trial.

According to reports, Francis Nana, the man accused of killing officer Bracewell driving a yellow Nissan Almera with license plate TX-A0022, was asked by the deceased officer to stop for regular inspection at a checkpoint in Vai Town, Bushrod Island around the Gabriel Tucker Bridge in Monrovia something he refused to do.

Report also had it that the vehicle operator refused to stop which prompted Officer Bracewell to jump on the hood of the vehicle in an attempt to stop driver and ensure submit to police inspection.

Witnesses accounts noted that the officer pleaded for his life while Nana continue speeding towards the bridge, bending the car into a concrete barrier, slamming Officer Bracewell to death.

The vehicle operator has been charged with the commission of Murder which is in violation of Chapter 14, Subchapter A, Section 14.1 of the Penal Law of the Republic of Liberia.

Police has described the action by the driver as deliberate and reckless. However, Nana’s legal team has argued that the incident was an accident and not intentionally done as been widely claimed.  The incident occurred on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
