CENTAL Trains LEC Employees on Anti-Corruption Measures

Monrovia, June 26, 2024 – In a bid to combat corruption and enhance public service delivery, the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has ended a day anti-corruption and integrity building training for senior employees of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).
The event took place at the Cape Hotel in Monrovia on Tuesday, June 26, 2024, bringing together employees from different divisions of the Liberia Electricity Corporation.
Anderson Miamen, the Executive Director of CENTAL, highlighted that the training’s aim to strengthen the capacity of LEC senior staff to promote transparency in their services and a corruption free LEC.
He described the gathering as a forum for learning and sharing information to build integrity within Liberia’s public institutions.
Miamen emphasized that CENTAL’s ongoing efforts is to collaborate with various government ministries and agencies to enhance their capabilities in fighting corruption.
“It is a form of learning and sharing information on transparency and integrity. There are many other workshops that we intend to have with other government institutions across the country,” he stated.
The training session educated LEC employees on the harmful effects of corruption on the nation, its citizens, and the corporation itself. Participants were provided with essential information on legal frameworks to promote transparency and accountability within the LEC.
In a brief remark, the Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia Electricity Corporation, Monie Captan lauded the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) for the fight against corruption in Liberia.
He noted that the corruption continue to underpinne the progress of the country,such it is important for various institutions both government and private join together in this fight. CEO Captan assure CENTAL of the LEC’s commitment to ensuring transparency in its daily operations.
This initiative, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), reflects CENTAL’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and intensifying the fight against corruption in public institutions.
