Gender Ministry Unites Development Partners in Landmark Push for Inclusive National Transformation

Monrovia: In a defining move to recalibrate Liberia’s development architecture toward equity, coordination, and measurable impact, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) convened its first-ever Partners’ Coordination Meeting on February 17, 2026, under the theme: “We Work Together, We Achieve Together.”

The landmark engagement signaled a renewed national commitment to inclusive growth, strengthened partnerships, and results-driven collaboration. Providing an overview of the meeting, Gender Minister Gbeme Horace Kollie calls for collective efforts underscoring the importance of bringing stakeholders together to harmonize ideas, align action plans, and pursue a shared national objective.

 “I believe in teamwork and collective ideas. With teamwork, we will achieve so much together. Let us feel free to contribute our perspectives on the way forward and what needs to be done. We must focus on achieving positive results,” Minister Kollie emphasized.

The high-level gathering attracted a broad coalition of international and national partners, including the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Population Fund, UN Women, Economic Community of West African States, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Save the Children, Plan International, Medica Liberia, and the United Nations Children’s Fund, among others committed to strengthening Liberia’s gender equality and social protection landscape.

The meeting was organized and hosted by the Ministry as part of its strategy to improve coordination and maximize development impact. Driving the Arrest Agenda for Inclusive Development (2025–2029) Central to the discussions was a presentation on Liberia’s Arrest Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) an ambitious five-year national framework aimed at addressing structural inequalities while accelerating sustainable socio-economic transformation.

The Agenda is anchored on six strategic pillars namely: Economic Transformation Infrastructure Development. Rule of Law Governance and Anti-Corruption. Environmental Sustainability. Human Capital Development. Minister Kollie and her technical team provided a comprehensive, results-oriented breakdown of the Ministry’s programs aligned with the AAID, outlining measurable targets and accountability mechanisms. Transformational Programs with Measurable Targets Program 47 – Inclusive Policies and Systems Seeks to eliminate systemic barriers affecting vulnerable populations, with a target of increasing women’s leadership representation by 30% and eradicating child marriage by 2029.

Program 48 Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response Aims to reduce SGBV incidents nationwide by 50% while strengthening survivor-centered services through enhanced coordination and institutional accountability.

 Program 49 – Inclusive Integrated Social Protection and Welfare Designed to improve the livelihoods of 16,000 vulnerable Liberians through education, protection services, and economic empowerment initiatives.

Program 50 Economic Empowerment of Women and Vulnerable Groups Targets 75% financial inclusion and promotes climate-resilient livelihood strategies to ensure sustainable income generation.

A Strategic Reset for Inclusive Governance Beyond policy presentations, the meeting served as a strategic reset reinforcing harmonized programming, transparent reporting, effective communication, and cross-sector accountability as critical pillars for success.

Development partners commended the Ministry’s initiative, describing the coordination platform as a decisive step toward eliminating duplication, strengthening alignment, and maximizing development outcomes. Participants further recommended institutionalizing the coordination forum as a recurring engagement mechanism to sustain progress and ensure long-term strategic coherence.
