House Approves Bill Establishing Juarzon Vocational and Technical College in Sinoe County
The Plenary of the House of Representatives has passed into law “An Act to Establish the Juarzon Vocational and Technical College,” marking a significant milestone in expanding access to technical and vocational education in Sinoe County.
The bill was approved following the presentation of a joint report from the Committees on Education & Public Administration, Ways, Means and Finance, and Judiciary. After careful review and deliberation, the committees recommended its passage.
The legislation was introduced by Sino County District #3. Representative Alex S. Noah. The institution will provide practical skills-based education that will equip young people and residents with competencies necessary for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic participation.
The establishment of the College is expected to significantly strengthen workforce development, enhance human capacity building, and create greater opportunities for youth empowerment across Sinoe County.
Following its passage, the bill was forwarded to the Liberian Senate for concurrence, consistent with legislative procedures. Reacting to the passage, Representative Noah expressed profound appreciation to his colleagues for their support to the initiative. “I am deeply grateful to my honorable colleagues for supporting this important initiative”.
He added “The young people of our country are excited about this opportunity. This technical institution will help prepare our brothers and sisters with practical skills such as soap making, tailoring, pastry production, and other trades. It will ensure that education becomes more accessible and relevant to our people,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the new institution will serve as a dedicated center for vocational and technical learning, complementing higher education and strengthening Liberia’s skills development framework.
“The establishment of the Juarzon Vocational and Technical College underscores our commitment to improving human capacity and advancing youth empowerment in our county. It is our responsibility to provide meaningful access to education and practical training for our people,” Representative Noah added.
The lawmaker also called on residents of Sinoe County and members of the Senate to support the initiative to ensure its speedy concurrence and implementation, enabling young people to begin benefiting from the institution without delay.
The creation of the Juarzon Vocational and Technical College represents a forward-looking investment in Liberia’s future workforce and a continued commitment to inclusive national development. The bill was passed during the 11th day sitting of the first quarter of the third Session
