Mpox Reaches 67 Cases With Zero Deaths, NPHIL Announces

Monrovia The National Public Health Institute of Liberia has announced the increase of Mpox cases to 67 in total with zero deaths reported.

The Mpox National Incident Management team made the announcement over the weekend after test results from the National Reference Laboratory.

 The National Incident Management team has at the same time issued a national advisory as it improves surveillance amid rising cases across the region.

Mpox (monkeypox) is a viral disease like smallpox. It causes fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a lesion-like rash. The lesions can appear on or near your genitals or anus and in other areas. Mpox is also a zoonotic disease. This means it can be transmitted from animals to humans and vice versa. It can also be transmitted from one human to another.
