“Non-Compliance Posture Will Not Be Tolerated” Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sando warns

Monrovia: Deputy Minister of Information Daniel Sando has sent out strong warning to past and current Government officials saying non-compliance posture will not be tolerated Deputy Minister Sando urged those who have been invited to fully cooperate with the Asset Recovery Team

He said Individuals identified as persons of interest in possession of government-owned assets are strongly advised to return such properties without delay. Minister Sando made the comments hours after Madam Mary Broh threatened to take the Asset Recovery Team to court if she is treated unfairly in the ongoing investigation into the alleged rice saga during her tenure.

 Broh’s comments come after she received an official invitation from the Assets Recovery Team to answer questions related to the matter, “If the Assets Recovery Team plays with me, I will sue them. I am not going anywhere”. But speaking at the regular press briefing Minister Sando emphasized that non-compliance official with invitations from the Asset Recovery Team will not be tolerated.

Making specific reference to former Chief of Protocol, Madam Nara Finda Bundoo, who’s lawyers responded to Asset Recovery Team saying their client will not honor the Asset Recovery invite nothing that if the team has strong evidence they should go to court. “The former Chief of Protocol, Madam Nara Finda Bundoo, has refused to comply with the ongoing investigation. Such actions represent a deliberate attempt to obstruct the government’s anti-corruption drive,”

Minister Sando stated. Minister Sando clarified that the asset recovery initiative is not a witch hunt. “No one is above the law; the government remains committed to upholding accountability and will ensure that all individuals involved are brought in for investigation as required.” Minister sando however reiterated the Government unwavering stance on transparency, good governance, and the rule of law.

Asset Recovery Team is investigating several past and present government officials who are allegedly in possession of Government properties Assets Recovery. Cllr Edwin Kla Martin   head of the team earlier announced that 17 high profile cases are currently being investigated and set to get government Assets back from illegal hands.

He said over the past 9 months when the Assets Recovery Team was in court due to the petition of Gracious Ride. He said people who criminally in possession of government Assets made clandestine changes of government properties in their names to claim ownership, unfortunately for those criminals, “the Assets Recovery Team is on top of the game with proper information and hard evidence”.
